Notez has two AI surfaces: the chat inside the app, and the MCP server your own assistant connects to. They were never meant to differ, but they had drifted — chat had sixteen tools, MCP had ten, and some of the same jobs went by different names on each side.
They now expose the same eighteen. A test compares the two lists on every build, so they cannot quietly diverge again.
New on both surfaces
Delete a note. It goes to the Bin, along with everything nested under it, and the assistant tells you how many notes went along. Restore it whenever you like — nothing is erased.
Pin and unpin. You say the state you want, not "toggle", so asking twice cannot undo itself.
Move a note under another note, or back to the top level. Its own child notes come with it.
Create a note already nested under an existing one, instead of creating it and moving it afterwards.
MCP catches up
Your own assistant can now do what the in-app chat could already do: filter notes by tag or property, read and set custom property values, and replace a note's tags. Moving cards between board columns stays in-app — a board is a visual arrangement an outside assistant cannot see.
Chat catches up
Chat gained the richer note listing MCP already had, with filters for type, pinned, top-level, and the trash, plus paging and ordering. Asking "what have I been working on?" now returns your most recently updated notes rather than your oldest.
Fixed
Moving a note with sub-notes left those sub-notes pointing at the parent it had just left, so their breadcrumbs ran through a note that was no longer above them. They now travel with it correctly. Existing notes repair themselves the next time they are moved.
Listing notes over MCP returned binned notes mixed in with live ones unless you explicitly excluded them. It now shows active notes by default, as its own documentation always claimed.
Worth knowing
A note deleted by an assistant does not appear on the ⌘Z stack and shows no Undo toast. Restore it from the Bin instead.
MCP clients read the tool list once at startup. Restart yours to see the new tools.
