v0.11.0 — Your AI assistant can add images and files to notes

v0.11.0New featureDenis Povarov

Asking an assistant to write a note was easy; asking it to put the architecture diagram in that note was not. Now it can.

Images and files over MCP

  • Two new MCP tools. create_upload returns a signed curl command for a local file; confirm_upload checks the file arrived and returns a snippet that embeds it. Assistants chain the steps on their own — you just ask: "Add ./diagram.png to my Architecture note."

  • Straight to storage. The file goes from your machine to storage directly, never through the conversation, so a large PDF costs no tokens.

  • Same as the editor. Images show inline, everything else becomes a file chip, and uploads appear on the Files page. Your plan's formats, per-file size, and storage limits all apply.

  • Checked on arrival. confirm_upload refuses a file that never arrived, or arrived at a different size than declared.

  • No silent broken images. A file written into a note as a plain link, without its file id, would never be tracked and would vanish after 3 days — so Notez refuses that write and the assistant pastes the snippet instead. The same guard covers in-app AI chat.

Worth knowing

  • Uploading needs an assistant that can run shell commands — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI. Chat-only clients will point you to the app.

  • In-app AI chat still shares the other 23 tools with MCP; the two upload tools are MCP-only.

  • The Integrations page lists the new tools. The full reference is in MCP server setup, and formats and storage are in Files and attachments.
