Notes can hold images and file attachments, and the Files page lists the files of a workspace in one place.

Supported formats
Category | Formats |
|---|---|
Documents | PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, ODP, KEY, TXT, CSV, JSON, MSG |
Images | JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, BMP, TIFF, WEBP, HEIC, EPS |
Video | MP4, MOV, AVI, MPEG |
Archives | ZIP, RAR |
Inline preview is available for JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, and WEBP. Everything else downloads.
Audio files are not among the accepted formats, even though the Files page offers an Audio filter.
Compression
JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, and WEBP images are compressed automatically on upload, so screenshots use far less storage than their original size. Other image formats — HEIC, BMP, TIFF, EPS — and all non-image files upload at full size. Files an AI assistant uploads over MCP are stored at full size too.
Size limits
Maximum size per file depends on your plan:
Plan | Max file size | Total storage | Max files |
|---|---|---|---|
Free | 25 MB | 1 GB | 1,000 |
Pro | 250 MB | 10 GB | 10,000 |
Ultra | 500 MB | 50 GB | 50,000 |
One caveat: files added through the editor are capped at 100 MB regardless of plan. Pro and Ultra users with a larger file will see "File is too large" from the editor even though their plan allows it. Uploads by an AI assistant over MCP follow the plan's limit instead.
In a shared workspace, these are the owner's limits: every file added to a note there, from the editor, an AI assistant or a webhook, counts against the workspace owner's storage, not the storage of whoever added it.
See Plans, limits, and billing.
The Files page
Files, at the top of the sidebar under Home and Calendar, lists the files of the workspace you are in: "Files attached to notes in this workspace". That is every file attached to a note there, whoever added it, plus your own uploads made there that are not in a note yet. Files in your other workspaces are on their Files pages; switch workspace to see them.
It is a grid of cards. Each shows a thumbnail or type icon, the filename, and a line with the file type, size, and age — plus a link to the note it belongs to, so you can always find a file's context.
Controls:
Search by filename
Filter by media type
Sort by Newest, Oldest, Largest, Smallest, or Name A–Z
Clicking a card opens the file in a new tab through a signed link; depending on the file type your browser will either display it or download it. The toolbar shows how many files the workspace holds and their combined size. That is not your storage use: your limit counts the files in every workspace you own, and Storage usage in Settings → Upgrade and billing shows that total.
Two things this page does not do: you cannot rename a file, and you cannot delete a file directly from it. Deletion happens through the notes that use them, described next.
How storage is freed
This is the part worth understanding if you are near your limit.
Removing a file from a note's content detaches it and queues it for deletion — unless a note version still references it. Those are cleaned up once the versions age out at 30 days.
Moving a note to the Bin does not free its files. They still count against storage.
Emptying the Bin releases the storage used by those notes' files. This is the action that actually reclaims space.
Files uploaded but never attached to anything are removed automatically after 3 days.
So if you are out of storage, do this in each workspace you own: empty the Bin first, then look for large attachments on the Files page sorted by Largest. See Storage and AI limits.
Where files live
Files are stored in S3-backed object storage. Images and files in your notes are served from a CDN at long, unguessable addresses: nothing lists them, but anyone who has an exact address can open that file. That is also how a file embedded in a note you share publicly reaches your readers.
