Last week we made it possible to paste a screenshot straight onto a kanban board when you create a card. The first question that followed was obvious: what about the card that already exists?
Until now, adding an image to an existing note meant opening it, scrolling to the end, pasting, and finding your way back to the list. For a bug report that needs one more screenshot, or a task that needs the file a colleague just sent, that is four steps too many.
Now it is one paste.
How to add an image to a note from the list
Hover a note in the list — a grid card, a table row, or a card on a board.
Click the pencil that edits its title.
Press
⌘V(Ctrl+Von Windows and Linux) with a screenshot or file on your clipboard.Press
↵, or just click away.
The files are added to the end of the note, in the order you pasted them. Images appear inline, other files as file chips, exactly as if you had pasted them into the editor.
It works the same as creating a card
We did not want two slightly different ways of pasting files, so editing a title behaves exactly like the board's quick-add box:
The upload starts the moment you paste. On cards, the first image shows above the title as a cover, dimmed until it has uploaded. A small paperclip counts any other files. Table rows are a single line, so they show the paperclip count only.
Nothing is saved until you commit. Press
↵or click away. If an upload is still running, the title stays open and read-only until it finishes, so a note is never saved half-uploaded.You can rename at the same time. Change the title and paste in one go — both are saved together.
Escthrows it all away. The pasted files and the title change are discarded, and the note is left exactly as it was.Plain text still pastes as text. Only files and images are picked up.
Pasted files follow the same formats and size limits as everything else, show up on the Files page, and are tracked like any other attachment.
Why this matters for a notes list
A notes list is where you triage: scan, rename, tag, move on. Opening a note to attach a file breaks that flow and loses your place. Adding files from the list keeps you in the view you were working in — the same idea behind the side panel and quick-add on boards.
It is especially handy for:
Bug reports and QA notes — drop in the next screenshot as you reproduce the issue.
Tasks on a board — attach the design, the log file, or the PDF without leaving the column.
Reading and research lists — add the cover image or the paper to the note you already created.

Custom properties in workspace settings
Custom properties now have their own section in Settings → Workspace. Manage properties opens the same dialog as the sidebar's More → Custom properties, so the place you go to set up a workspace is also the place you find its fields.
See a property's name on hover
Property values show as small chips on cards and rows. Two dates or two numbers side by side are hard to tell apart, so hovering a chip now shows the name of the property it belongs to.
Captured files are readable by AI straight away
A note created by pasting a file with nothing focused was saved in a shape that AI chat and MCP assistants could not read until you opened the note once. That is fixed, and notes already saved this way have been repaired.
Try it
Open your notes, click the pencil on any note, and paste a screenshot. The full details are in Using boards and Files and attachments.
