Guest accounts
Continue as guest starts using Notez immediately with no signup. Notes, files, workspaces, AI chat, and imports all work. Paid plans and connecting AI apps by signing in are the exceptions: both require a real account.
When you later create a real account, your guest data — notes, files, workspaces, version history, embeddings, custom properties, and AI conversations — is migrated to it.
One caution: a guest account lives in that browser. Clear site data or switch devices before signing up and you lose access. If you intend to keep your notes, sign up soon.
Account settings
From Settings:
Change email (requires verification)
Request a password reset
Upload an avatar
Set your language
Turn email notifications on or off
Delete your account
Note that "change password" sends you a reset link by email rather than asking for your current password in the app.
Apps
Web — the primary and most complete surface.
Desktop (macOS) — a desktop app for macOS 11 Big Sur or later, on Apple Silicon (arm64) and Intel (x64), signed and notarized. Download it from the downloads page.
It is a desktop shell around the web app, so its features are identical to the web version and it needs a connection like the web app does. What you get is a dedicated window, a Dock icon, and separation from your browser tabs. While it is open, a reminder that comes due also shows as a macOS notification.
No auto-update. When a newer version exists you get an in-app banner; download and reinstall manually.
Windows and Linux desktop apps are not published yet. The CLI does ship for both — see The Notez CLI.
CLI — macOS, Linux, and Windows.
There is no mobile app. On a phone, use the web app in your browser, or install it to your home screen as described below.
Install the web app
Notez is installable as a PWA. In Chrome or Edge, use the install icon in the address bar; on iOS Safari, Add to Home Screen.
This does not enable offline use. Notez does not cache notes, so an installed web app still needs a connection. There is no offline editing or sync queue.
Notifications
The bell icon shows in-app notifications with an unread badge and Mark all read.
Notifications cover account and billing events — registration, activation and deactivation, plan changes, subscription status, and usage thresholds — plus a notice if someone reports a note you shared publicly, mentions in a shared workspace, your reminders when they come due, and a workspace export that is ready or failed. Reminders, mentions and workspace export notices are also emailed while Email notifications is on in Settings → My notifications, and a due reminder shows as a system notification while the Mac app is open. There are no browser push notifications.
See Notifications and languages.
Signing out everywhere
Review and revoke individual sessions in Settings → Security, or use End other sessions. Changing your password does not by itself end other sessions — see Security and sessions.
For the CLI, run notez logout on that machine, or revoke its key from Settings → Integrations. Rotate MCP keys from the same screen. AI apps you connected by signing in stay connected when you sign out; remove one with Disconnect under Connected apps in Settings → Security.
Deleting your account
Settings → Delete account. This is permanent and removes your notes, files, and workspaces.
To keep a copy, export each workspace and download the .zip first: your exports are deleted with your account.
